Interior Ministry Officially Registers CPK Party

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Interior has officially registered the Kampucheaniyum party, founded by Yem Ponhearith and other former leaders of the now defunct Cambodian National Rescue Party.

The Article 2 of the official registration announcement released by the Ministry of Interior states that the Kampucheaniyum party will be required to act in accordance with the law on political parties, the legal documents in force and the party's statute.

The newly registered party is headquartered at 52-54, 9m concrete road, Kandal village, Rolous Commune, Dangkor District, Phnom Penh, with lawmaker Yem Ponharith acting as the chairman.

Yem Ponhearith was re-granted a Royal Decree by King Norodom Sihamoni, on 17 April this year after submitting an application through the Ministry of Interior.

This political rehabilitation was provided simultaneously to six other former leaders of opposition parties, including Muth Chantha, Chief of Cabinet Kem Sokha, Chum Chandarin, Tuot Yoeut, Lat Lithey, Long Kimkhon and Yong Phannet.
